_
Rrufeja çante kupën; toka nën këmbë dridhej,
vërshimi baltën me ujin nëpër fusha e përziente.
_
Njeriu s’e njihte ligjin që natyra mbante,
prandaj çdo plagë e kthente në vullnet e urdhër hyjnor.
Aty ku dija linte boshllëk, besimi ndizte zjarr,
aty ku frika kërkonte strehë, ngrihej altar.
_
“I bardhi!
_
Abrahami ecte nën yje, me sytë plot dritë,
_
Mes njeriut dhe Zotit mbeti pyetja e vjetër:
a lind besimi nga e vërteta, apo nga frika tjetër?
A kërkon njeriu Zotin që natën ta kuptojë,
_
Mbyllën një zë, jo rrotën e qiellit në udhëtim;
yjet s’pyetën për burgun, vazhduan zbulimin.
_
ia zbrazni sofrën, ia mbushni shpirtin me dëftesa shprese.
–
Parajsën ia jepni me qira, tokën ia hiqni nën këmbë:
–
Tokën e mbani për vete, atij i lini ajrin,
pastaj i kërkoni t’ju falë edhe diellin.
Kush është besimtari, kush mëkatari i vërtetë:
ai që ndan bukën, apo ai që pasurinë e bekon vetë?
–
I urituri kërkon bukë; i japin fjalim,
asnjëra s’bëhet kafshatë, as mish, as lot.
Podiumi mbetet madhështor, retorika hyjnore,
i urituri kthehet në shtëpi me duar bosh e lavdi boshe.
–
Klerikët e rinj predikojnë me aksione e pjesë,
–
Njëri mbante shpresën në krahë, tjetri urdhrin në dorë;
–
Lutjet e Abrahamit i vendosi në raftin e tregut:
çdo shpirt u bë klient, çdo brengë u bë projekt.
Parajsa u bë platformë, mëkati abonim,
shpëtimi erdhi me kushte përdorimi, pa fund e pa shpjegim.
–
Makinës i jep mendje, njeriut ia heq zërin,
–
Të lutem apo dyshoj? Të bindem apo të shoh?
A është blasfemi dritarja e pyetjes ta hapësh?
.
Edhe kur njeriu emrin e Zotit e harron,
__________
Agim Vuniqi
In the beginning was fear; then came the question,
a trembling animal seeking divine explanation.
When night sealed the earth and thunder shook the dome,
man asked who moved the world—and who had built his home.
–
Lightning split the heavens; the ground began to sway,
the flood mixed mud with water and carried the fields away.
Fire rose like a sun that had fallen from the sky,
and the unknown put on a god’s face, solemn, vast, and sly.
–
Man knew no law by which the wild world turned,
so every wound became a will, each mystery a word.
Where knowledge left a hollow, belief arrived in flame;
where terror needed shelter, an altar took its name.
–
“There is a God!” he cried, and lifted up a stone;
he gave the stone a doorway, then called the doorway home.
“The white one! The black one!”—voices crossed the air,
as though the sky were sorted by the colors people wear.
–
Abraham walked beneath the stars, his eyes alight;
three roads followed after him, each claiming equal right.
From earth rose prayer like smoke; from heaven silence fell,
heavy as a verdict from an invisible cell.
–
Between the man and God there hung one ancient question:
does faith grow out of truth—or fear’s elegant invention?
Does man seek God to understand the night,
or build a god so darkness will behave politely in his sight?
–
Then came the seals and orders, the locks and sacred keys:
“Do not ask! Do not touch! Believe us on your knees!”
They made Bruno into a torch beneath the public sky,
but thought escaped the ashes and taught the dark to fly.
–
They stitched Galileo’s mouth with threads of black decree,
yet Earth kept turning underneath their theology.
They silenced one small voice, not heaven’s endless wheel;
the stars ignored the prison and continued to reveal.
–
Hell was not a metaphor confined to printed pages;
it had chains for hands and locks for minds and guards for human ages.
It counted every shadow, inspected every breath,
and called obedience virtue while rehearsing little deaths.
–
Then wires came, and camps, and numbers cold and clean;
the human name dissolved inside a bureaucratic machine.
A person became a figure, a life became a line,
and death wore a uniform and called the order fine.
–
“Darwinist!” they shouted when you traced the roots of breath;
“Materialist!” when you touched the skeleton beneath.
They cursed the mind with smoke still rising from their prayer,
then climbed into an airplane built by the thought they’d dared to scare.
–
They cursed the ladder lifting them above the cloud,
then kissed each polished rung and thanked the silent crowd.
Like thieves who curse the doorway while entering the hall,
they blessed the lock behind them and stole the house and all.
–
A forest slept folded inside a single seed;
the root pursued the darkness, not a crown of gold or greed.
What makes the living split the stone and rise toward light?
The fruit that opens like a hand—or vaults that lock the night?
–
Spinoza spoke through one green leaf, without a throne or choir:
“The Infinite cannot fit inside a word or wire.”
An ocean trembled in a drop of morning dew;
the universe held its breath in something small and blue.
–
One drop—the size of human pride—and still it held the storm,
the coast, the stars, the thunder, every shape and form.
Who carries all creation proudly in his palm,
when the palm itself is dust, and dust is all its calm?
–
O merchants of the heavens, with invoices for the sky,
with paradise upon your lips and gold beneath your eye!
You sell the poor eternity in installments, bright and neat;
you empty out their tables while you fill their souls with receipts.
–
You rent them heaven by the month, then take the ground away;
“Patience is a virtue!” from balconies you say.
How easily the well-fed bless the hunger of the poor,
then praise the locked-up granary as proof of something more.
–
You keep the earth for yourselves and leave them only air,
then ask them to forgive you for the sunlight that you spare.
Who is the true believer, and who the sinner in disguise:
the one who shares his bread—or blesses wealth with holy eyes?
–
The Ego builds a throne from mirrors, polished, high, and wide;
knees touch the floor in worship while the vaults are sanctified.
The soul becomes a slogan, the conscience becomes a brand;
the heart is sold for profit by a smiling, bloodless hand.
–
Humanism came marching in a golden coat,
with a marble hand extended from a televised boat.
The hungry asked for bread; they received a speech instead;
applause became the blanket placed around an empty head.
–
Words fell down like coins upon a stone;
not one became a morsel, not one became a bone.
The podium remained magnificent, the rhetoric divine;
the hungry walked back home with nothing but a line.
–
The new priests preach in stocks and shares,
with oil wells for their altars and contracts for their prayers.
They split the earth like thieves who find an ancient chest,
then weigh its wounds in gold and call the bleeding progress best.
–
Each fallen forest becomes a graph upon a screen;
each poisoned river, a column in the ledger’s green.
They name the desert “development,” the wound “a rising rate,”
and put a price upon the darkness while congratulating fate.
–
Above them, sunlight pours down rivers made of fire;
below, they mine the night to feed a private empire.
Instead of gathering daylight on the roofs of human homes,
they drain the veins of Earth for fuel, and call the draining “growth.”
–
An artificial mind was learning how to be alone,
a child of glass and circuits in a laboratory throne.
Another weighed starvation through decimals and charts,
with perfect calculations and no ears for human hearts.
–
One robot raised the sick with careful, tender grace;
another held a weapon with a blank and polished face.
One carried hope in metal arms, one carried out command;
both were built by human genius—neither understood the hand.
–
Drones pierced the sky like needles without eyes,
with no pilot left to hear the child beneath the cries.
A child searched for a name inside the dust and flame;
the screen searched for a red dot and never learned the name.
–
On screen: a target. On earth: a chest.
One click away, one life put to rest.
How cleanly death arrives when distance hides the stain,
when murder comes packaged as a protocol and chain.
–
The trillionaire, in dreams of steel and light,
declared himself a god with a button held tight.
He bought the stars, the silence, the heavens’ outer rim—
but one unsold tear remained, and it belonged to him.
–
He placed the Abrahamic prayers upon the market shelf:
each soul became a customer, each sorrow sold itself.
Paradise became a platform, sin a paid subscription plan;
salvation came with terms of use no mortal ever read or can.
–
He no longer digs within, where darkness grows its root;
he drills into another’s flesh to extract the fruit.
He gives the machine a mind, removes the human voice,
and calls each shining chain advancement, progress, choice.
–
What use is conquering every star and distant sphere,
when someone’s heart goes dark beside us, burning near?
What worth is one more planet purchased at auction’s call,
when a hand reaches out for bread and closes on nothing at all?
–
Shall I pray—or shall I doubt? Shall I obey—or see?
Is opening the window of a question blasphemy?
Perhaps doubt is a little lamp, unholy, frail, and bright;
it does not break the heavens—it illuminates the night.
–
Virtue is not a jewel pinned upon a speech,
nor a medal rusting proudly where the famous cannot reach.
It is the hand that stops before it closes on another’s throat;
it is bread divided while it’s warm, before the cold can vote.
–
When man begins to stumble, reason should become his staff,
not a whip for weaker backs, not a sermon dressed in wrath.
Break the chain that bends the living underneath its weight;
do not forge another chain for someone at the gate.
–
And even when humanity forgets the name of God,
when temples turn to markets and the sacred turns to fraud,
a spark remains beneath the ash, unseen but burning on:
for beyond the thrones and altars, He still believes in man.
